Shoshana B

She lives in the country and her favourite theme is the Magen David, but she also creates beautifull work with other themes. 

Shoshana B has been working with glass for over twenty years.  She is fascinated by the effect light has on glass and, in turn, the effect glass has on light passing through it. She is particularly fond of new types of glass and new methods such as fusing.

She is a self-taught artist, her only formal instruction being an introductory class in leaded glass windows.  Shoshana uses fusible glass to create her jewelry, Judaic ritual items and glassware.  Most of her fused glass items have been heated in the kiln at least three times.  The first firing heats the glass to over 870 degrees C; the final or “slump” firing does not go above 700 degrees C.

Taught to sew as a child by her stepmother, her creative experience also includes children’s clothing design. She owned and operated her own children’s boutique clothing line for two years, designing each item of clothing, supervising its construction by contract sewing companies and selling the line to retail children’s clothing shops.  Shoshana also enjoys creating garments for her daughter and herself out of vintage Japanese kimono.
