Waiters 1st Class

Malie Baehr sketched these Amsterdam waiters on site in the first-class station restaurant and later worked out her sketches in aquarel. Her people always look familiar, even if you don't know them at all: she manages to capture them with very little detail. These are her original sketches; there is only one of each.
This sketch is 9.5 x 15 cm, framed and with passe partout it is 24 x 30 cm. The complete series Waiters can be seen in the gallery below: for a bigger view, please click on an image.

These sketches formed the basis of some of her oil paintings; to see some 'end results', click here . (The Waiters shown here are part of an exhibition running until October 21 2007 and may have been sold by now.)
